President Bush on Thursday said he had a right to nominate conservative judges to the federal bench even if no one likes them.

Speaking at a fundraiser in Texas, Bush predicted a fight with the Senate over his picks. Although numerous judges have been confirmed, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee killed Charles Pickering, a nominee to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Bush also said his nominees would be "strict constructionists" who would interpret the U.S. Constitution strictly.
