Interior says working on shutdown

The Department of Interior is denying it hasn't taken all steps possible to send out millions of dollars in payments to beneficiaries to the Individual Indian Money (IIM) trust.

On computer lockdown for more than a month, a spokesperson for the department told The Lincoln Journal Star that its "technology team has been working overtime with the contractor to bring about resolution."

Bill Roselius, a special assistant to Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb, told Indianz.Com last week in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, that about 40 officials, information technology staff members and attorneys have been working with special master Alan Balaran to try and fix the security holes. Predictive Systems Inc., a computer firm that broke into the IIM system last summer, and SAIC are the outside contractors.
