Few tribes at Olympics in Utah

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30, 2002 With the Winter 2002 Olympics being held in close proximity to Indian Country, there high hopes tribes and Native Americans would be featured prominently for the world to see. But then reality hit. Cost, logistics, security, the controversy over who would be the "host" tribe and other concerns became more important than the tourism and economic benefits the few tribes who are making an official presence in Salt Lake City, Utah, in just a few short days The Navajo Nation is still hosting a cultural pavilion in downtown Salt Lake. Four Utah tribes will be sharing a teepee elsewhere. Get the Story:
