Skater Lang making contact with father
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2002

Naomi Lang, a member of the Karuk Tribe of California and Winter Olympian, has recently begun to re-establish a relationship with her father, who is also a tribal member.

Lang's father and mother divorced when she was 3. Although her mother, who is non-Indian, later moved the family to Michigan, she would regularly visit her tribal relatives.

But it was only recently that she and her father, Jason Lang, reconnected. She received an e-mail from him, their first contact in 14 years.

Lang and partner Peter Tchernyshev compete in the ice dance event.
