Editorial: Wrong on 'Whities'

FRIDAY, MARCH 15, 2002 In an editorial today, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader criticizes a group of students for naming their team "The Fighting Whities." The paper says the University of Northern Colorado intramural team won't affect the debate over mascots with its attention-drawing name. Worse yet, the paper says the name is offensive. "Racially offensive names and mascots are racially offensive, no matter whom they try to reflect." Get the Story:
