Suit filed to stop 'tribal' story

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6, 2002

A Florida man has filed suit to stop a pageant that depicts children dressed up as Indians stabbing children dressed up as Spaniards.

Such a scene was included in last year's Chasco Fiesta Pageant. The pageant alleges to tell a story of a Spanish boy and girl and the Calusa Indian tribe.

But pageant organizers say the stabbing scene has been axed, no pun intended. The festival is scheduled to occur tomorrow.
