The Individual Indian Money (IIM) trust should be stripped from the Department of Interior and handed to a court-appointed receiver, The St. Petersburg Times writes in an editorial today.

The paper says the government has failed repeatedly to fix the broken system. An accounting hasn't been completed, information technology security is in shambles and despite appropriation of money, nothing has happened.

"It is senseless to tolerate this record any longer," the paper says.
