Yankton Sioux Tribe tries to save emergency room

The Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is working against the clock to keep the emergency room at its clinic from reducing services.

The clinic in Wagner has a 24-hour emergency room. The Indian Health Service has been trying to reduce the hours, citing budget constraints.

After some court maneuvering, a judge finally gave approval to IHS to reduce services. Tribal leaders are hoping Congress can stop the move but only have until March 1 before the new hours go into effect.
