Environmental opposition to Calif. casino eases

Plans by the Coast Miwok Tribe to build a casino in the Bay Area are drawing less opposition from environmental groups.

The tribe's first choice for a casino site drew widespread criticism. But the tribe garnered praise for giving up nearly 2,000 acres to a local land trust.

The second site, up to 450 acres, still has its detractors, who say the casino will take up too much water, increase traffic and negatively impact endangered species.
