Opinion: Gaming 'political tremor' in California

"When California voters rolled the dice on Indian casinos a few years back, they didn't realize that they were unleashing the latest political tremor to rattle the Golden State.

But now, with billions of dollars at stake, Indian tribes desperately fighting for more land while battling each other and politicians lined up at the cash window ready to push more gaming legislation, all bets on limiting future casino expansions are off.

The genie is not only out of the bottle, it is conjuring up new schemes to allow more dice games, more slot machines and more ways for those "rural'' casinos to start popping up next to little residential enclaves -- such as San Francisco."
