Oregon tribe close to deal on off-reservation casino

The Warm Springs Tribes of Oregon are negotiating a deal with Gov. Ted Kulongoski (D) for an off-reservation casino outside of Portland.

The tribes and the Kulongoski hope to reach an agreement by early January. It would be the first off-reservation casino in the state.

The deal has other tribes concerned. They say it would open the floodgates for other off-reservation proposals.

The Warm Springs Tribes would close its existing on-reservation casino and open a resort in Cascade Locks, about 40 miles outside of Portland.
