Pauma Band sues companies over failed casino deal

The Pauma Band of Luiseno Indians of California has filed suit against two large gaming companies, saying their proposed merger cost the tribe millions in a failed casino deal.

The tribe had a deal with Caesars Entertainment, the largest gaming company in the world, to build a $250 million resort. But the tribe says Caesars dropped out due to its proposed merger with Harrah's Entertainment, which runs the nearby casino of the Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians.

The Pauma Band has since signed a deal with Hard Rock Casinos but says the loss of the Caesars deal forced the tribe to agree to a stricter compact with the state.
