New Mexico tribe won't install Class II machines

A northern New Mexico pueblo will not install 26 Class II machines under an agreement with the state.

San Juan Pueblo Gov. Joe Garcia, who entered office this month, announced the agreement with Gov. Bill Richardson (D), who had opposed the use of the machines because the state would not et a share of the revenues under the tribal-state compact.

The compact requires tribes to share up to 8 percent of slot machine revenues.
