Tribes see gaming business soar in wake of Katrina

Two tribes say they have seen their gaming operations soar as gamblers find alternatives to the Gulf Coast casinos destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

The tribe operates three Class II facilities. The chief financial officer said business has nearly doubled at one location.

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians also has seen an increase in business, said an executive. The tribe is the closest to Biloxi, where many of the Gulf Coast casinos were based.
