Editorial: Let state look at tribe's slot machines

"While there is no indication that the Sac and Fox tribe is trying to hide anything, the lack of cooperation with state gaming officials over slot machine inspections is troubling.

A 1995 agreement between the Kansas Gaming Commission and the tribe grants the Kansas State Gaming Agency "free and unrestricted" monitoring of electronic gambling machines at the the Sac and Fox casino in Brown County.

But John McElroy, director of the state agency, said agents haven't been able to inspect the casino's 470 slot machines to their satisfaction for the past year."
