All Minnesota tribes offered stake in urban casino

All Minnesota tribes would be offered a stake in a proposed urban casino in the Twin Cities, The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The Leech Lake, Red Lake and White Earth bands of Ojibwe are in talks to partner with the state for a casino. State Sen. Sandy Pappas, a Democrat who will sponsor the authorizing legislation, said the deal will be extended to other tribes that have already come out against the proposal.

A press conference has been scheduled on Friday, according to Pappas, but that could be delayed. Tribal leaders declined to comment as did Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R).
