Sen. Voinovich vows defeat of off-reservation casinos

Sen. George Voinovich (R-Ohio) said on Tuesday he would work to defeat an Oklahoma tribe's plans for off-reservation casinos in Ohio.

Voinovich, as governor and former mayor of Cleveland, fought against earlier efforts to expand gaming in the state. He said casinos destroy families and hurt other businesses.

The Eastern Shawnee Tribe is eyeing up to nine sites throughout the state and has signed deals with at least three municipalities.
