Tribes, states seek open dialogue on gaming

The Western Governors' Association concluded its executive summit on Indian gaming in Denver, Colorado, on Wednesday.

Tribal representatives and state officials promised an open dialogue when it comes to gaming. Many participants stressed cooperation rather than litigation to resolve land-into-trust applications, compacts and other issues.

The final day included a panel on off-reservation land acquisitions for gaming. The second panel focused on technological standards for casino machines.
