A Rhode Island lawmaker is introducing a bill to seek a state Supreme Court ruling on the Narragansett Tribe's proposed casino.
Rep. Timothy A. Williamson (D) supports the casino. But he doesn't want a last-minute legal challenge to derail it, which is what happened last year.
The tribe and its partner Harrah's Entertainment are proposing a $400 million resort in the town of West Warwick. The tribe must get approval from state voters because it is excluded from the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
