The Sisseton-Wahpeton Tribe wants to expand its casino in South Dakota but the plans are in doubt unless a new gaming compact with South Dakota is negotiated.
The tribe is planning a $7.9 million hotel, a an indoor music and entertainment facility, an indoor water park and a 24-lane bowling alley at the Dakota Sioux Casino. The development would take place over five years.
But Chairman James Crawford said the tribe needs to add slot machines in order for the project to be feasible. Talks are underway with Gov. Mike Rounds (R).
