Navajo allottee objects to tribal casino proposal

A Navajo allottee and her family are objecting to plans to use their land for a Navajo Nation casino near Flagstaff, Arizona.

Betty Scott's land is being eyed for a casino complex off I-40. Tribal leaders have been trying to convince her to give up her allotment for a new house, running water and electricity.

But Scott and her daughter have raised a number of objections, including the lack of a business plan. Scott also wants a share of the casino profits.

The Navajo Nation has authorized up to six casinos. One is already in the works along I-40 outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
