Eastern Cherokees seek approval for Class III

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians says North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley (D) has offered to negotiate for certain Class III games.

Eastern Cherokee Principal Chief Michell Hicks called the offer "informal" but told The Asheville Citizen-Times he is hopeful that a Class III compact could be negotiated. The tribe wants to offer live-dealer card games at its casino.
