Doug Thompson, a county commissioner in Wyoming who is an outspoken foe of gambling, is part of the team that is negotiating a Class III gaming compact with the Eastern Shoshone Tribe.
Thompson was selected to represent Fremont County, where the Wind River Reservation is located.
He has said gambling on the reservation. will lead to social and other problems.
The state is negotiating a compact with the tribe in light of a recent court decision in a case involving the Northern Arapaho Tribe. The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that tribes are entitled to the "full gamut" of Class III gaming [Wyoming tribe wins Class III gaming case

Both tribes are based on the Wind River Reservation.
