Spokane Tribe agrees to revenue sharing

In a first for the state of Washington, the Spokane Tribe [Web Site] has negotiated gaming compact with revenue-sharing provisions.

The agreement calls on the tribe to share a sliding percentage of gross revenues, from 3 percent to 35 percent. If slot machines are ever legalized for non-Indian facilities, the revenue sharing would end.

The state agreed to lift limits on the number of slot machines the tribe can operate and agreed to lift limits on betting at some card tables. The tribe would also be allowed to operate up to five casinos, including one off the reservation near Spokane, 24 hours, seven days a week.

The tribe already has trust land in Airway Heights near Spokane.
