First Nation in talks over smoking at casino

The Sakimay First Nation of Saskatchewan is negotiating with the city of Yorktown over a smoking ban at the tribe's urban casino.

The city has banned smoking in public places. The Painted Hand Casino is located within city boundaries but is under the jurisdiction of the First Nation.

The Canadian government has said First Nations have the right to set their own smoking bylaws. But to avoid a lawsuit, the First Nation and the city are hoping to reach a deal regarding smoking at the casino.
