Michigan tribe to announce Detroit-area casino

The Hannahville Indian Community will announce plans for a Detroit-area casino, The Detroit Free Press reports.

The tribe plans to build a casino in Romulus, whose officials and residents have supported gaming in the past. The tribe is based about 450 miles away, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

A number of other tribes have previously sought to open casinos in Romulus but the deals haven't moved forward. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Michigan) will fight the Hannahville proposal, a spokesperson said.
