The Catawba Nation of South Carolina asking a federal judge's to rule on the legality of video poker on the reservation.

The tribe says it is entitled to video poker under a special act of Congress. But state officials say the state constitution outlaws video poker. A judge will hold a hearing on Friday to consider the issue.

The tribe currently operates bingo, a Class II game, but revenues are sagging due to the state lottery. Tribal officials hope video poker will revive the business.
