NIGC chooses new regional director in Sacramento

Eric Schalansky is the new regional director for the National Indian Gaming Commission office in Sacramento, California, NIGC Chairman Phil Hogen announced on Tuesday.

Schalansky has been a field investigator in the office for six years. His region covers tribal casino operations in California and northern Nevada.

"Eric has demonstrated a commitment and professional example that we feel will continue to provide the Commission with strong leadership in California during these times of continued growth in Indian gaming," Hogen said in a statement.

According to the NIGC, Schalansky worked for over three decades with the California Department of Justice in a wide range of areas such as terrorism, white collar crimes, narcotics and illegal gambling.

Schalansky also has been active in the California Republican Party, according to various web sites. In 2000, he was elected to a Republican party committee in Sacramento County.
