The Oneida Nation's casino has been fined $50 for violating the state of New York's smoking ban.
The Oneida County's health department issued the fine, saying the tribe allows smoking at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino and has failed to post "No smoking" signs, The Syracuse Post-Standard reported.
The tribe has disputed the jurisdiction of the county and boycotted a hearing on the smoking issue. While the casino is located on non-trust land within the boundaries of the historic Oneida Reservation, the tribe says it hasn't waived its sovereign immunity.
