Connecticut sides with town in slot machine dispute

The state of Connecticut is siding with a town that imposes taxes on slot machines leased by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal will ask a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the tribe against the town of Ledyard. The tribe says the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act bars taxation.

The town assessed the leased slot machines at $430,701. The tax bill was $10,758.90.
