Schwarzenegger opposes Scotts Valley casino

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) opposes the casino being sought by the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians.

The tribe wants to build a 225,000-square-foot casino in North Richmond. But Schwarzenegger says the site is too far -- over 100 miles -- from the tribe's headquarters.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is taking public comments on a final environmental impact statement for the project. A decision on the tribe's 30-acre land-into-trust application will be made sometime after April 28.
