NIGC investigates Seneca-Cayuga checks

A leadership dispute within the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of of Oklahoma has drawn the attention of the National Indian Gaming Commission.

Newly elected leaders said former chief Paul Spicer wrote severance checks to former employees of the Grand Lake Casino and of other tribal enterprises. Most of the checks were for $20,000 but at least one was as high as $90,000, tribal leaders said

The NIGC is investigating the payments and has asked for numerous documents. Newly elected tribal leaders support the probe.
