Mohegan casino generates $14M for municipalities

Communities in Pennsylvania are benefiting from a casino owned by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut.

Tax revenues from the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs resulted in $14 million for municipalities around the casino in northeastern Pennsylvania. The money represents 4 percent of the 55 percent tax imposed on gross gaming revenues in the state.

The tribe also contributes to communities in Connecticut under its Class III gaming compact. The tribe sends 25 percent of gross slot machine revenues to the state.
