Mohegan Tribe still interested in New York casino

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is still interested in a casino in New York City but doesn't want to build it.

The tribe, however, said it wants to operate the casino at the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens. ”What we suggested to them is that we'd manage it if the state built it and owned it themselves,” Mitchell Etess, the chief executive officer for Mohegan Sun, told The New London Day.

The tribe's proposal was the only one of seven that didn't offer to build the casino. The tribe had proposed a full development during the first round of bidding for the project.

The tribe is also interested in pursuing a commercial casino in Massachusetts.
