Seminole Tribe faces August 31 deadline on compact

The Seminole Tribe has until August 31 to accept, reject or offer a counter proposal to a Class III gaming compact approved by the Florida Legislature.

Seminole CEO James Allen said the tribe will take action by the deadline. "We're optimistic we can meet and hopefully exceed that time frame," he said as the tribe celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

The deal allows the tribe to offer slot machines at all seven of its casinos. But the tribe must remove blackjack and other card games from four facilities.
