New Bay Mills chairman supports off-reservation gaming plan

The new leader of the Bay Mills Indian Community of Michigan supports the tribe's off-reservation gaming efforts.

On his first day in office, Chairman Kurt Perron said the tribal council reaffirmed its support for off-reservation gaming in Vanderbilt, Flint, and Port Huron. The tribe was forced to close its facility in Vanderbilt due to litigation.

"I am committed to working aggressively and diligently with the entire council to advance this litigation and related pursuits,” Perron said in a November 16 posting on Bay Mills News.

The tribe is proposing casinos in Flint and Port Huron.
