The Dry Creek Rancheria
of California has dropped plans for a second casino.
The tribe submitted a land-into-trust application to the Bureau of Indian Affairs or a 277-acre site that was rumored for a casino. The application stated that the land will not be used for gaming, The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported.
“It’s not a benefit to Dry Creek at this point to leapfrog,” Chairman Harvey Hopkins told the paper, referring to the debt the tribe would have to take on for a second gaming facility.
Plans for the site include housing and a sports complex.
