Pokagon Band set to welcome visitors to new gaming facility

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians is opening the doors to its third gaming facility in Michigan today.

The 27,000 square-foot Four Winds Dowagiac will be the smallest in the tribe's enterprise. But the facility reflects the look and feel of the main Four Winds Casino Resort and the satellite Four Winds Hartford Casino.

The casino employs about 130 people, 60 percent of whom are tribal members, Chairman Matt Wesaw told The Kalamazoo Gazette.

“The benefit of people coming to our facility and having a good time, allows us to improve the quality of life for our tribal citizens,” Wesaw told reporters during a preview of the casino on Monday, the Gazette reported.

The tribe is considering a fourth casino in Indiana.
