Navajo Nation outlines major expansion for casino in Arizona

The Navajo Nation is planning a major expansion of its Class III facility in Arizona.

The Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort just opened in May. It's the tribe first gaming facility in Arizona and its largest so far.

The development stands to grow even bigger with the addition of a gas station, an outlet mall, a retail center, more restaurants, an RV park, an entertainment complex and 160 housing units. The project, known as The Outlook at Glittering Mountain, would be located on a 70-acre site by the casino.

The land is not in trust so the tribe needs approval from Coconino County, The Arizona Daily Sun reported. The entire project could take 10 years to complete, the paper said.

The tribe also operates three gaming facilities in New Mexico.
