Non-Indian developers unveiled plans for a $750 million commercial casino in the Catskills region of New York.

Empire Resorts and its partner EPR Properties say the Adelaar New York will feature a casino, 1,110 hotel rooms, a water park and an entertainment village. It would be located on the 1,700 acres of the former Concord Resort.

Last November, voters approved a referendum [PDF: Proposal 1] to authorize up to seven casinos in the state. The Catskills region is expected to get two licenses.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut has proposed a $400 million casino there. The Mohegan Tribe, also from Connecticut, has expressed interest in a $600 million facility.

The Stockbridge Munsee Band of Mohican Indians of Wisconsin is also pursuing a a tribal casino in the Catskills. The Bureau of Indian Affairs published a final environmental impact statement for the project last month.

The Catskills region is about 90 miles north of New York City.
