More tribes are seeking to bar "bad actors" from entering the Internet gaming industry in California.

State lawmakers are considering bills to legalize online poker. Tribes want to ensure that certain websites that shut down operations as part of a settlement with the Obama administration aren't allowed to enter into any partnerships or deals in California.

"For the last quarter-century our tribal governments have worked constructively with the State to protect and strengthen the reputation of the California gaming industry by ensuring the honesty, good character, and integrity of licensees, employees, owners, and vendors," 12 tribes said in a press release. "To now weaken California’s suitability standards would undermine our collective goal of creating a legislative framework that protects consumers from nefarious operators."

There are rumors that PokerStars, one of the sites that was shut down, is seeking to enter into a partnership with the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and non-Indian card clubs.
