Mississippi Choctaws plan to spend $88.1M for gaming projects

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians will spend $88.1 million over the next two years on gaming projects.

The tribe allocated $32.3 million on slot machines an upkeep at the Silver Star Hotel and Casino, The Neshoba Democrat reported. Another $22.4 million will be spent on the hotel at the facility and a hotel at the nearby Golden Moon Casino.

As for the Golden Moon, the tribe will spend $7.6 million to restart gaming at the facility. Operations there were cut back during the economic downturn.

Another $7 million will be spent to refinance the Dancing Rabbit Inn Hotel, which is located next to the casinos.

The tribe also considered spending $18.8 million for a new gaming facility. But the proposed Red Water Casino was rejected by the council by a vote of 10-6.
