The Oglala Sioux Tribe will be able to offer more slot machines under a new Class III gaming compact with the state of South Dakota.

The existing compact limits the tribe to 250 machines. The new deal authorizes up to 750 machines at the Prairie Wind Casino and the East Wind Casino.

The compact will be discussed at a public hearing this Thursday at Prairie Wind. If it's approved at the state level, it will be sent to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for review.

in June, tribe and the state signed an extension of the existing compact. The extension expires December 31 unless a new compact is approved.
