The Navajo Nation is celebrating the fourth anniversary of one of its New Mexico casinos.

The Northern Edge Navajo Casino opened in January 2012. The Class III facility is located in Fruitland, right outside Farmington, the largest city in northwestern New Mexico.

"We are grateful for support from the Community, Upper Fruitland Chapter, Farmington, The Navajo Nation President and his administration, the Speaker, Navajo Nation Council and its committees, the Gaming Board, and talented Northern Edge employees whose hard work the past four years has created so much success and allowed us to create hundreds of Navajo jobs, provide valuable job training, and distribute millions of dollars in revenue to the Nation," Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise CEO Derrick Watchman told Indian Country Today.

The tribe operates two other gaming facilities in New Mexico and plans to open at least one more after negotiating a new Class III gaming compact with the state.
