The Bureau of Indian Affairs is finalizing the environmental impact statement for the Cowlitz Tribe's proposed casino in Clark County, Washington.
The tribe is proposing to build a casino on 152 acres. The $510 million Cowlitz Casino Resort would include a 134,150-square-foot casino, a 250-room hotel, 165,000 square feet of retail space, 130,825 square feet of restaurant, bar and entertainment space, 85,000 square feet of convention space and a 5,000-seat multipurpose center. The land is being taken into trust under an exception in Section 20 of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The Cowlitz qualify as a newly recognized tribe.
