Rep. Larry Cretul (R), the Speaker of the Florida House, said lawmakers might meet in a special session to discuss a Class III gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe.
Cretul said the session would be called to review a deal between the tribe and Gov. Charlie Crist (R). The two sides have until August 31 to reach an agreement. "If we can convene to ratify the compact or reject it, that's probably the best time to do it," Cretul told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Lawmakers already passed a bill that specified the general terms of the compact but the tribe has questioned whether it will receive exclusive rights to offer Class III games outside of south Florida.
