The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi
Indians gained local approval for its second casino in Michigan.
The tribe's compact requires approval from a local government, the voters or another method "suitable" to the governor. The board of trustees in Hartford Township voted unanimously to support the project.
"This was a major step," Chairman Matt Wesaw told The Kalamazoo Gazette.
The tribe is using a 297-acre parcel in the town for the casino.
