A Malaysian company with ties to tribes will operate the first casino in New York City under a contract approved by the state.
Genting will turn the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens into a casino with up to 4,525 video slot machines and other electronic gaming machines. The company says it will spend $1.3 billion on the facility, which will include two restaurants. Genting has financed other tribal casinos in Connecticut and New York.
