Tribes took in nearly $1.7 billion in fiscal year 2009. That's down from nearly $2 billion in 2008 and $1.9 billion in 2007. Last year's take was also lower than nearly $1.8 billion in 2006. But it was greater than the $1.5 billion in 2005. "We are an entertainment industry that is solely reliant on disposable income,'' Sheila Morago, the executive director of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association, told Capitol Media Services.
