It's official -- the casino site of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians is going into trust.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs published a notice in today's issue of the Federal Register, announcing approval of the tribe's land-into-trust application. The notice triggers a 30-day waiting period for challenges. The Cherokee Nation has already said it will challenge the decision. The tribe is going to the Interior Board of Indian Appeals. The BIA's decision applies to the two-acre site of the Keetoowah Cherokee Casino. Get the Notice:
